Clinical Medical Assistant
CCMA's are able to perform in a medical office administrative role as well as assist the primary care provider with 1:1 patient-centered clinical care needs. As a CCMA, students must first obtain their foundation by becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant. Additional prerequisites that will further develop their clinical skills include Medication Technician and Phlebotomy Technician certifications. Collectively, upon completion of the Medical Assistant course, students will have learned the basics of being a Clinical Medical Assistant and are prepared to take the Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam provided by the National Healthcareer Association taken onsite at our facility. The topics included in the program of study are medical office administration, professional responsibilities, patient care, safety, infection control, EKG monitoring, and phlebotomy. A student must be 18 years of age prior to enrollment and have a high school diploma or a transcript corresponding prior to graduation.

Partnership with a skilled nursing facility (White Oak Manor and Pruitt Health) for nursing assistant students to complete the required clinical. Partnership with adult education for level 3 and 4 students who are interested in healthcare as a continuing career pathway. Additional partnerships include Carolina Community Actions, Inc., which pays 100% tuition for a course for qualified candidates. Graduation attire is not included in the total cost.
