Program description:

This program is designed to prepare the student for an entry-level position as a health information technician. Students will be well versed in medical terminology, health information management, database management, data coding and validation, medical business procedures, and legal requirements. Graduates will be able to construct medical records and clinical databases, perform manipulations and retrieved data, control the security and quality of records, and supervise data entry and technical maintenance personnel. Graduates of this program will be able to attain positions in a medical office, health care facility, health maintenance organization, or insurance provider.
