This program is designed to prepare the student for an entry-level position as a medical record technician. Students will understand the process of handling medical records, medical files both soft copy and hard copy. Students will be well versed in medical terminology, health information management, database management, data coding and validation, medical business procedures, and legal requirements. Graduates will be able to create medical records and clinical databases, perform manipulations and retrieved data, and supervise data entry and record authenticity. Graduates of this program will be able to attain positions in a medical office, health care facility, health maintenance organization, or insurance provider.
