The Medical Administrative Assistant Program educates students with the theoretical foundation, development of skills such as multitasking as it relates to scheduling appointments, processing insurance requests, maintaining records and corresponding with patients. Develop skills related to the use of best financial practices for a medical center, fundamentals of medical terminology and ethical best practices and understand the basics of working with medical documents, medical billing, and coding processes to prepare them for entry-level positions in the field of Medical Assisting. To support a belief in the innate dignity of the human person and a desire to further the growth potential of the student within the atmosphere of a small institution. The Medical Administrative Assistant Program at Village Career Center prepares the graduate to assume there responsibilities and duties of a Medical Assistant at an entry level. The Medical Assistant is a member of the health care team who works directly with the patient, the physician and under the supervision of the physician in the clinic setting, performing a variety of administrative duties. Village Career Center believes that students should assume personal responsibility for learning, while the faculty provides an environment which will facilitate learning. Upon completion of the academic requirements in the three learning domains (cognitive, psychomotor, and affective) the graduate of the Medical Administrative Assistant will have completed the program objectives and terminal competencies.
