Nursing Assistant Training Program

Program description:

This is a 6-week Nurse Assistant Training Program which is in conformance with the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services as well as the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education requirements for Nurse Aide Training Program. This program provides entry level training that prepares students to care for residents in need of continuous care. This care includes ADLs such as feeding, bathing, dressing, and toileting. This course will also educate students on infection prevention techniques, proper body mechanics, resident rights, abuse and neglect, and care of dementia and Alzheimer’s patients. This course provides 100 hours of training to prepare candidates for the state nurse aide exam. Students who complete this course with satisfactory progress will receive a certificate of completion which affords the ability to sit for the state exam. With successful completion of the state exam, candidates will hold a certificate as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Certified Nursing Assistants can obtain employment in the following areas: nursing homes, home health agency, assisted living, adult day care, hospital and rehab facilities.
