This program prepares students to become licensed to work in the field of physical therapy. Physical therapist assistants work under the supervision of licensed physical therapists to provide physical therapy interventions that reduce physical disability, pain, movement dysfunction, and promote optimal health and function.
The PTA Program has over 150 clinical education contracts with area Hospitals and Physical Therapy Clinics. The Program has articulating agreements with the following Colleges: York Technical College, Piedmont Technical College to guarantee admission slots based on minimum qualifications. The PTA Program has an expansion program contract with Florence Darlington Technical College. The PTA Program works closely with Federation of State Board of Physical Therapy and the American Physical Therapy Association and the SC Board of Labor, Licensing Review to facilitate graduate licensure.
