PeeDee Medical Career Training Center was established to provide high-quality healthcare training for non-degree students seeking employment in various areas of the medical field. Our goal is to give our students the opportunity and knowledge to obtain multiple certifications essential for entering the rapidly expanding healthcare industry. Students will be equipped with the necessary intelligence, that will empower them to be successful in passing their exam. We aim for our graduates to be highly productive in providing top quality healthcare services in a diverse healthcare setting.
Medical Billing and Coding
Medical billing and coding opportunities have increased in the healthcare field. This course prepares individuals for a career in this high-demand occupation and to earn a relevant professional certification. Students will learn to interpret medical records, utilize medical terminology and anatomy, and use the Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS), as well as CPT Category II and ICD-10 codes. Through mock scenarios, students will gain hands-on experience in medical billing and coding, insurance claim preparation, regulatory understanding, and healthcare reimbursement processing. Upon completing the course, students receive a certificate of completion and become qualified to take their choice of national certification exams: CPC, CCA, or CBCS. The Certified Professional Coder (CPC) exam is offered by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).
The Certified Coding Associate (CCA) is offered by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). The Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) is offered by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). The student would need to meet the requirements of each certifying agency.
