TransTech’s Commercial Truck Driving Program is designed to equip students with the essential knowledge required to successfully pass the CDL test. This 160-hour program ensures comprehensive training that prepares students for entry-level employment in the trucking industry. The curriculum begins with online theory training covering CDL permit test preparation, introduction to logbooks, route planning, and pre-trip inspections. Subsequently, students practice mandatory driving maneuvers on the range. The final phase involves on-the-road training, where students learn shifting techniques and proper lane control and hone the competencies necessary for a successful driving portion of the CDL test.

Vehicle Inspection & Maintenance.
Basic Control Skills (maneuvering, shifting, and turns).
Backing Techniques.
Road & Highway Driving.
Defensive Driving & Hazard Awareness.
Trip Planning, Hours of Service & Logbook Management .
Pre-Trip, On-the-Road, and Post-Trip Inspections.
Air Brake Systems & Safe Operating Procedures.
Load Securement & Weight Distribution.
Program Breakdown (160 Hours):
Theory Training (50 Hours) – Covers theory, safety regulations, logbooks, trip
planning, written permit preparation, hours of service, defensive driving, and
logbook management.
Range & Maneuvering (50 Hours) – Hands-on practice with vehicle control,
backing, parking, and inspections.
Road Driving & Observation (60 Hours) – Real-world driving experience under
instructor supervision.
Enrollment Requirements:
Minimum age: 18+ (21 for interstate driving or passenger transport)
Valid Driver’s License.
Obtain a CDL Permit before range/road training.
Pass a DOT Physical & Drug Screening.
Program Completion and CDL testing.
Upon successful completion, students will receive a Certificate of Completion, qualifying them to take the CDL Class A Skills Test. Testing is conducted at an authorized third-party or DDS testing site.
