Patient Care Technician - CE
With training as a Patient Care Technician, also known as a patient aide, graduates will be able to work in a variety of healthcare settings such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, home health care agencies, and doctors’ offices. The Patient Care Technician program combines training in Medical Terminology, Certified Nursing Assistant, Phlebotomy Technician, and Patient Care Practices & Techniques courses. Upon completion of this program, students will be eligible to take the Certified Patient Technician/Assistant exam offered through NHA and earn the designation of CPCT/A.
Students will rotate through hospitals, medical and diagnostic laboratories, and clinics in the MTC service area for practical experience in ECG and cardiac monitoring. Students will be required to comply with regulations required by off-campus clinical sites, which include a background check, drug screening, provide proof of required immunizations. Successful completion of Medical Terminology with a C or better is a prerequisite of the EKG Technician course. This course can be completed in as little as 12 months.
