EKG Technician - CE
Working in doctor’s offices, clinics, or hospitals, EKG technicians administer tests to record and analyze electrical impulses transmitted by the heart. Topics covered in our classes include anatomy and physiology of the heart, mechanics of the EKG machine, stress testing, and Holter monitoring. The EKG Technician certificate can be combined with Certified Nursing Assistant and the Phlebotomy Technician programs to complete the Patient Care Technician program. Upon completion of this program, students will be eligible to take a nationally recognized certification exam. Students will rotate through hospitals, medical and diagnostic laboratories, and clinics in the MTC service area for practical experience in ECG and cardiac monitoring. Students will be required to comply with regulations required by off-campus clinical sites, which include a background check, drug screening, provide proof of required immunizations. Successful completion of Medical Terminology with a C or better is a prerequisite of the EKG Technician course. Medical Terminology is a prerequisite of this program.
